Wild elephants damage crops in Kuppam
Two herds of wild elephants which had entered the farm land at Gudnalyinipalli village of Kuppam in Chittoor district damaged crops worth lakhs of rupees.
Paddy and tomato crops in Gudnalyinipalli and adjoining villages were greatly affected, with the elephants going on a marauding spree. The farmers are worried over the wild elephant menace which is on rise in the region.
On receiving information, forest officials rushed to the spot. Although forest officials tried to chase them away by bursting fire crackers and beating drums, it failed to deter them.
