Why Discussion on Special Status After Assurance, YSRCP Questions BJP
New Delhi: YSRCP MP Mekaptai Rajamohan Reddy has criticized the NDA government for insisting on discussions on Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh (AP). Lok Sabha Speaker has informed the MPs from AP that special status issue would come up for consideration after BAC discusses on it.
Speaking to the media after the adjournment of Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Mekapati said: “Speaker spoke to all the parties and said special status demand would be considered after BAC discusses on the subject. Special status assurance was already given in AP Reorganization Act and why BJP-led government wants to discuss on it again?”
YSRCP has demanded fulfillment of all the assurances in AP Reorganization Act. YV Subba Reddy, YSRCP MP from Ongole, said, “we’re not demanding any thing additional than what were assured in the AP Reorganization Act.
YSRCP MP Varaprasad said, “we waited for two years for special status. we’ll continue our fighting until we get it.”
YSRCP MP Butta Renuka has demanded special status for AP. Renuka said: “We’re not asking for any special package. We’ll fight for special status, which has been promised by Prime Minister. People will lose confidence in democracy, if Prime Minister’s assurance is not fulfilled.”
