Why did Modi adopt Jayapur?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chose Jayapur village in Kashi constituency under Sansad Adarsh Grameen Yojana. He would spend his MPLADs for the village.
Why did Modi choose the village? His political rivals say Modi choose the village specifically because of its composition. Here are the reasons that Modi detractors suggest:
* The village was adopted in 2006 by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh for alround development. So, the necessary infrastructure for effecting development is already available.
* The village is a stronghold of Apna Dal, which is BJP's political ally. Apna Dal MP Anupriya and mother Krishna Patel accompanied Modi during his campaign in this region.
* The village has no Muslim population.
* The village has Kurmi domination. Kurmis are BCs who have been with the BJP through the thick and thin.
However, sources close to the PM trash these reports and say Modi chose the village as this was the first village he had campaigned in the UP.
