Who will bear the expenditure for KCR's Chandi Maha Yagam?
Jagadevpur (Medak): Even as Telangana chief minister KCR is getting ready to organise Ayutha Chandi Maha Yagam on a scale that is unprecedented, questions are being raised about the whopping expenditure being incurred in conducting the Yagam.
The social media is abuzz with debate over who is footing the bill. KCR himself is on record saying that he and some of his well-wishers were footing the bill and that not a single rupee was being spent from state exchequer. But a host of VIPs, including President of India and several chief ministers would be attending the Yagam. Seers from various peethams, priests from Shringeri and hundreds of Ritviks are also attending the five-day ritual starting from December 23.
But, who is footing the bill for laying of roads, arranging the streetlights all along the route and illuminating the area around the farm house? Government employees, officers and various departments are involved in the ritual. Also, KCR used chartered flights to go to different places to invite VIPs. Who is bearing the expenditure for this?
Besides, the expenditure of Government VVIPs President of India Pranab Mukharjee, Central Ministers Venkaiah Naidu, Bandaru Dattatreya, Tamil Nadu Governor K.Roshaiah, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu and the large number of their entourage will be borne by the respective governments. These expenses have not been factored into the overall Yagam expenditure, critics say.
