Who is Prabhakar Reddy?
TRS party leadership took Medak by election as a challenge as it is the first byelection after it got power in Telangana.
It searched for the right candidate finalised the name of Kotta Prabhakar Reddy.
Prabhakar Reddy is the owner of Soni Travels. He is said to be one of the richest politicians in Telangana. If the grapevine is to be believed, he has the assets worth Rs. 1000 crores. He has been continuing in the TRS for sometime in the past.
He expected a ticket to contest from Maheswaram assembly constituency in Ranga Reddy during the 2009 general elections. But, the seat was allotted to Teegala Krishna Reddy due to an alliance between TRS and TDP. In the election, Prabhakar fought as a rebel candidate and could get only 1471 votes. He stunned the political circles by getting the TRS ticket to contest from Medak.
