Which way Purandheshwari?
She was the brightest star of the UPA Government - articulate, affable and charismatic. But, NTR scion and former union minister Daggubati Purandheswari's political career appears to be at crossroads.
She left the Congress in the wake of AP bifurcation and latched on to the Narendra Modi bandwagon. However, she had a formidable foe in Chandrababu Naidu, who was hell bent on denying her the constituency of choice. As BJP's electoral ally, TDP chief ensured that Purandheswari was left with no seat but Rajampet to contest.
Rajampet was a goner from the beginning as the wind was blowing in favour of the YSRCP. To make matters worse, Chandrababu Naidu ensured that the TDP cadre did not work for her. Even during the election campaign, he was careful enough not to mention her name.
Post-Rajampet defeat, Purandheswari's political fortunes appear to be on the downslide. She finds the going tough in the BJP. Now she wants to leave the BJP and is even ready to join the TDP, led by her bete noire Chandrababu.
During a meeting organised by Telugu emigres in America, she said she is ready to join the TDP, provided the conditions were favourable.
Now, will Chandrababu, who foiled her chances of victory at Rajampet, allow her into the TDP? Even if invited, what would be her role now in the party? As of now, Purandheswari's career appeared to have hit a road block.
