Was Pakistan not hell when Modi went there? asks Digvijay
Panaji: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar should have likened Pakistan to hell when Prime Minister Narendra Modi went there, Congress leader Digvijay Singh said on Saturday.
“He (Parrikar) had no objection when his prime minister (Modi) went to so called hell-like Pakistan to attend a family wedding of (Pakistan Prime Minister) Nawaz Sharif, which was impromptu without any prior announcement,” Digvijay Singh said.
“He had no objection when (Lal Krishna) Advani went and laid a floral wreath at the mazar of (Muhammad Ali) Jinnah and called him the most secular leader. He had no objection when Atal Behari Vajpayee went to the so-called hell Pakistan in a bus to Lahore.”
Digvijay Singh said Parrikar did not agitate within his party when his senior leaders went to Pakistan.
The “intolerance” of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was reflected in the comments made by Parrikar, he said.
Parrikar had said on August 16 at a public meeting in Rewari in Haryana that “going to Pakistan is the same as going to hell”.
Digvijay Singh also condemned a complaint of sedition filed against former Congress MP from Karnataka, Ramya, for contradicting Parrikar’s comments on Pakistan.
