Warangal Collector Amrapali Marries Policeman

Hyderabad: Warangal (urban) collector Amrapali Kata got married to IPS officer Sameer Sharma at a traditional ceremony in Jammu, on Sunday.

The newly wed were in love for a few years and convinced their respective families for the marriage. The groom is serving as superintendent of police in Daman. While Amrapali was a 2010 batch IAS officer (national rank 39), Sameer Sharma belongs to 2011 batch IPS. The engagement took place on Saturday attended by a few close relatives and friends. The couple have planned a wedding reception in Warangal on February 22, while another one for friends and colleagues in Hyderabad on February 25. The couple will leave for Turkey on February 26.

Amarapali's father retired as professor from Andhra University. She completed her graduation from IIT Madras and pursued PG Diploma from IIM Bangalore. After working as junior relationship banker, she cleared the civils exam with a rank of 39. She was initially posted as sub collector of Vikarabad before moving to Woman and Child welfare department. She took charge as Warangal collector on October 11, 2016.
