Wall collapse: Many feared trapped under debris
At least five persons, including two children, were today killed when the wall of a building collapsed on two adjacent huts in MJ Colony near Moula Ali in Hyderabad, police said.
The incident took place at around 2 AM when the retaining wall of the building came down crashing. The deceased include two children, DCP (Malkajgiri Zone) V Shivkumar said.
Efforts are underway to rescue some more persons, who are suspected to have been trapped under the debris, he said.
Personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Fire department, GHMC besides, the police were engaged in rescue operations, the senior police officer said.
Heavy rains lashing the city since two days seems to be the reason behind the collapse, he added.
