Voters lured with Nano car

A Tata Nano will roll on the roads of your village if you achieve 95 per cent polling. Your village will get a motor pumpset if you manage to get 90 per cent of your voters to exercise their franchise.
Depending on the polling percentage, your village might win an AC, a refrigerator and a host of other attractive gifts.
This is part of the innovative campaign by Medak district collector Smita Sabharwal to improve the polling percentage in the district. The voters are being offered several incentives to encourage them to come out to vote.
Among the several incentives on offer are 10 per cent fare concession at fuel filling stations and rebate in the cellphone recharge. Medak has polled quite low last time and the district administration is determined to improve the voting percentage this time around.
According to Smita Sabharwal, this is aimed at encouraging the younger voters to come out and vote. Also, the senior citizens who vote would be felicitated. She feels it is important to sensitise the voters to increase the polling percentage. She has also played a key role in improving the voter enrollment in a big way in the district.
Due to all these steps, the Medak district administration strongly feels that there would be greater participation of voters in the election process.
