Vizag Residents Slam Ganta Srinivas Rao Over Cockfight Remarks 

Visakhapatnam: Despite ban on cockfight in the two Telugu states, leaders of the ruling TDP in Andhra Pradesh are making irresponsible remarks over the sport. AP Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Saturday defended cockfight saying that it can be organised without involvement of betting.

He further said cockfights can be arranged without tying weapons to roosters during the sport. While arrangements are being made for cockfights in Arilova, a residential area in Visakhapatnam East constituency, residents rued that when people are losing their properties in cockfights and gambling, the Minister's remarks on the sport are uncalled for and unsavoury.

Meanwhile, villages in coastal districts of the state are all decked up for cockfights with just two days left for the Sankranthi festival. Cockfights are being organised openly with police protection several places across Bhimavaram, Godavari delta, Krishna, Prakasam, Kadapa, Chittoor districts.
