Vivek Confident Of Winning Hyderabad Cricket Association President Election
Hyderabad: Former MP G. Vivek is confident of winning the election held on Tuesday to the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) body. Speaking to reporters after closing of the polling at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Uppal in the city, Vivek said the election process was held as per the court orders and the result will be announced only when the court decides.
Vivek and ex-cricketer Vidyuth Jayasimha contested for the post of president whil 16 others were in the fray for six different positions in the executive body of the HCA. Former Indian skipper Mohammed Azaruddin's nomination for the post of president was rejected by the election authority and he approached the High Court to review the decision. However, the High Court refused to take up the matter on an emergency basis and he is advised to file the petition on a regular basis.
Sesh Narayana was elected as secretary unanimously and around 180 members out of 218 used their vote. Vivek, who is appointed as the adviser to state government in November, may have to leave that position if he is elected as HCA president. He said as he was not sworn-in yet, it may not be an issue.
