Visakhapatnam voters like non locals only?

Only non local candidates have been winning from Visakhapatnam parliamentary constituency consecutively for the last 25 years.

In 1984, Battam Sriramamurthy won from here contesting on behalf of Telugu Desam Party. Earlier, the leaders like P.V.G.Raju, Tenneti Viswanatham and Dronamraju Satyanarayana won from this constituency to enter the Parliament.

Uma Gajapathiraju won from here contesting as the Congress party candidate in 1989 elections. She belongs to North Andhra region.

M.V.V.S.Murthy won from here as the TDP candidate in 1991 and 1999 elections. He belongs to East Godavari district.

In 1996 and 1998 elections, industrialist Tikkavarapu Subbarami Reddy won from here contesting as the Congress party candidate. He came from Nellore district.

In 2004 elections, former chief minister Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy won from here contesting on behalf of Congress party. He is a native of Nellore district.

In 2009 elections, Daggubati Purandeswari won from here contesting from Congress party. She belongs to Prakasam district.

Now, the candidates list that will contest from the key constituency is yet to be finalized.

However, Purandeswari may contest as the BJP candidate from here in all probability.
