VIP rush leads to tension in Tirupati

Tirupathi: Tirumala devotees on Wednesday turned up in huge numbers to celebrate Vikunth Ekadasi fete.

Since Vikunth Ekadasi and New Year fall on the same day,  VIPs and others reached Tirumala in huge numbers to offer special prayers.

Devotees on Wednesday staged a protest near CGC demanding that the temple authorities allow them to have Vikunth Ekadasi darshan from the morning itself. TTD management made clear that the pilgrims would be allowed for Vaikuntha Ekadasi only from Wednesday evening. A minor scuffle took place between the management and devotees.
