Villagers protest eve-teasing, hold up highway traffic

Protesting eve-teasing of a student, villagers of Kohir mandal in Medak district staged a protest on national highway near Chintal Ghat on Thursday.
The student, who studies in a private college in Zaheerabad was returning to her village in Chintal Ghat when a youth of the same village entered into an argument with her.
As the girl student lodged a complaint at the Kohir police station, the youth along with his friends assaulted her at Chintal Ghat bus stop.
Protesting the incident and the assault on the students, villagers held up traffic on the highway for over two hours. Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the villagers, resulting in injuries to over 15 people.
