Vijayamma writes to CM, demands Andhra assembly session
Read Full Letter: Ever since the Congress Working Committee unilaterally and arbitrarily announced the division of Andhra Pradesh vide its unanimous resolution on 30th July 2013, the situation in Andhra and Rayalaseema regions has worsened with life virtually coming to a halt. Despite this, the State and Central Governments have remained mute spectators. The Congress party both in the state and Centre have to bear the responsibility for creating this avoidable impasse.
It is relevant to recall that in respect of formation of last three states viz Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, the Union Government insisted that unless resolutions are passed in respective State Assemblies, the process for formation of new states would not begin. Even though Andhra Pradesh was formed on the recommendations of the First States Reorganization Committee, resolutions for merger of Andhra state and Telangana area of erstwhile Princely state of Hyderabad were obtained in the respective state assemblies for such merger.
In the light of the above, we request you to convene immediately the State Assembly session to discuss and pass a resolution to keep the state united-, before the cabinet note is prepared.
