Vijaya Shanti denies TRS-Cong merger move

Setting at rest speculation, TRS Lok Sabha member and actor-turned politician Vijaya Shanthi today flatly denied rumors of the possible TRS and Congress merger. "The TRS will never take a suicidal decision of merging with the Congress," she clarified.

Talking to mediapersons at Medak after performing pooja on the occasion of Dassera, the TRS MP said that even if the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre concedes statehood for Telangana the question of TRS merger with that party would not arise.

Asked what will be the fate of Congress in the region if the party does not take a decision in favour of Telangana, the firebrand MP said that then the party would die a natural death in the region.

"The Congress has already tested the patience of the people of the region. They are now no longer in a position to wait and watch. Either a decision should be taken now or the Congress should get ready to be buried in the region in the next elections," she remarked.
