Vijay Fans Post Sexually Abusive Tweets Threatening Woman Journalist

Chennai: A woman journalist had to face sexually abusive tweets from fans of Tamil superstar Vijay, when she posted a tweet on a Bollywood movie.

Dhanya Rajendran, a journalist and founder of The News Minute, was criticised by netizens when she had tweeted after watching the Bollywood movie Jab Harry Met Sejal (JHMS) on last Friday by calling it worse than Tamil superstar Vijay's film 'Sura'.

The moment she posted the tweet, she began to receive sexually abusive messages and threatening tweets from Vijay fans.

On Tuesday, Dhanya Rajendran lodged a complaint with the Chennai police over the sting of abusive posts. The Twitter users, who were behind the online harassment, posted more than 60,000 tweets, identified the journalist.

Some of the social media users, claimed to be hero Vijay's fans, threatened to physically harm her with stones. Some of them tweeted saying they visit her office and see her.
