It seems, the social media fancy is only fuelling the tendency of people’s cruelty towards animals. Not long ago, insensitive villagers in Palakkad district of Kerala fed a pregnant elephant with a pineapple laden with firecrackers leading to its death. Showing similar cruelty, a man in Vensupalam village of Khammam district in Telangana subjected a monkey to severe torture by hanging it from a tree. He chose to punish the poor animal for jumping into his water tub. As the monkey struggled for hours for some breath, he not only left it to die but even posted a video of the animal’s ordeal on social media.
