Hyderabad: Owing to unpaid dues of over Rs 3 crore in the hostel messes at the University of Hyderabad (UoH), the administration directed the students to clear their dues before the beginning of the next semester in January.

chief warden’s notice

We don’t have sufficient balance to even open the mess in January 2017 following the pending dues from all the messes. Whether you have not applied or received scholarship, you still need to clear up your mess dues

The UoH administration in its notice warned students that mess facilities will be closed if they don't clear their dues. The students, however, stated that are yet to receive their fellowship/scholarship amount. The reasoning by the students were apparently ignored by the university authorities.

The chief warden's notice read, "We don't have sufficient balance to even open the mess in January 2017 following the pending dues from all the messes. Whether you have not applied or received scholarship, you still need to clear up your mess dues."

"The dues for November 2016 are not included and that the total dues will be more than what is indicated in the attachment," the notice added.
