Union govt won't keep quiet: Ravela
Andhra Pradesh Minister for Social Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu said that the decision taken by Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao on ‘locality’ is unconstitutional.
He asked the Telangana government how it could bring the new rules when there is an Article 371 (D) for the same.
The minister said that they would opt for a legal fight over the issue.
Ravela asked for the immediate intervention of Governor and the union government. “Union government won’t keep quiet if the states behave as they wish,” said the minister.
It may be reminded that KCR said that locality of a candidate and their income would be taken into account while providing financial assistance to the students under Financial Assistance to Students of Telangana (FAST).
KCR also said the scheme would be applied only to the students of those families who were settled in Telangana before 1956.
He said that the necessary rules would be framed by the ministries of finance, social welfare and education soon on the issue.
