Two sub-inspectors held for threatening realtor
Alwal police arrested two sub-inspectors of police for threatening a Secunderabad-based real estate businessman Srinivasa Rao with a service revolver over a Rs 2 crore land dispute.
The arrested policemen are Pratap Lingam, working as SI at Sadashivnagar in Nizamabad district and Vinayak Reddy of Medak Rural police station.
The issue relates to purchase of a land worth Rs 2 crore from Srinivasa Rao by the SIs and few other people. However, when the buyers found out that the land was double registered or already registered on someone else's name, they demanded the realtor to refund their money. As Srinivasa Rao started avoiding refund, the two SIs along with 20 others descended on the home of the realtor and packed him off into a waiting van.
The frightened family members of Srinivas Rao immediately called the local police. The Alwal police launched a manhunt and tracked down Srinivas Rao to a house on the outskirts of Alwal based on cell phone signals. They also arrested Raghu and Lakshminarayana along with the SIs. Both the SIs have been placed under suspension.
However, the realtor's version of the story is different. He insists that the land is not double registered and that the SIs threatened him with a service revolver as they wanted the land in its entirety in their name.
