Two Students Commit Suicide In Nuzvid IIIT In Four Days

Vijayawada: Two students ended their life during the last four days at the prestigious IIIT at Nuzvid in Krishna district.

On Saturday, Rama Devi, a student of the Ist Year, jumped from the top floor of the college building. She suffered critical injuries and broke one of her hands. On seeing her falling down, the college staff immediately rushed her to the nearest hospital. As her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to Vijayawada for better treatment. But, by afternoon she succumbed to the injures. The reasons for the extreme act are not known. Her parents have been informed about the tragedy. Rama Devi is from Amudalavalasa in Srikakulam district.

On Wednesday, Sagireddy Poorna Lakshmi Narasimha Murthy, a student of PUC Ist Year and a native of Sankaraguptam in Malikipuram mandal of East Godavari district hanged self in his room in the I-3 Hostel on the campus of the IIIT. He hanged self while all his colleagues and roommates went for lunch. By the time they returned, they found Murthy hanging from the ceiling. They immediately alerted the security personnel, who broke open the door. But, by that time, he was already dead. His body has been shifted to the local area hospital. The police are investigating.
