All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLAs Akbaruddin Owaisi and Ahmed Balala were booked on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy for the killing a youth last year, police said today.

Balala's gunman Mohammed Jani and four others were also booked for similar charges in connection with the death of Ibrahim Bin Younus Yafai. Akbaruddin is an MLA from Chandrayangutta and party Floor Leader in Andhra Pradesh Assembly while Balala represents Malakpet constituency. All of them were booked last week under various sections of the Indian Penal Code following a complaint by Yafai's brother Awad Bin Younus Yafai, a police officer of Chandrayangutta police station said today. We booked them after going through the legal options, he said. Awad had alleged Akbaruddin and his men killed Ibrahim by firing at him in a scuffle that had ensued during an attack on Akbaruddin on April 30 last year. On April 30 last year, Akbaruddin, while on a march in Barkas area along with Ahmed Balala and other MIM leaders, was attacked by assailants with sharp-edged weapons and firearms near the MIM office reportedly owing allegiance to one Mohammed Pahelwan and his family members.
