Sleuths of the Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) today trapped a Deputy Commercial Tax Officer and a senior Assistant in Vijayawada district of Andhra Pradesh for accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000.

 M V Ch Acharyulu Dy Commercial Tax Officer (VAT), Vijayawada-1 was caught red handed by the ACB officials when he demanded and received the amount from the complainant for doing an official favour of releasing copper wire bundles belonging to Mahavir Company, Vijayawada, which were seized by the DCTO (VAT).

 The bribe amount was shared by A Satyanarayana, Senior Assistant, office of the CTO, Vijayawada.

 The hand fingers of both the hands of A.O 1 and A.O 2 yielded positive result in chemical test. The tainted amount of Rs 5,000 was recovered from Acharyulu and the remaining tainted amount of Rs 3,000 was recovered from Satyanarayana besides relevant records were seized.

 The case is under investigation.
