TTD To Issue Notices To Employees Of Other Faiths

Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) plans to issue notices to about 44 employees of other faiths.

The notices will be issued in a day or two, according to TTD sources. A final decision will be taken after the state government concludes its deliberations whether to retain or retrench employees of other faiths. A meeting was held at the office of the Executive Officer (TTD) in this regard on Saturday. The issue came into the limelight recently when deputy executive officer Sneha Latha went to a church in her official vehicle. The EO had asked her for an explanation in this regard.

It may be recalled that about 37 candidates of other faiths found employment in the TTD between 1989 and 2007. The TTD Board at the time passed a resolution to halt the practice. However, despite the resolution seven more candidates joined the TTD.
