TS Govt. Cites Fire Safety As Reason For Secretariat Buildings Demolition

TS secretariat - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has changed its stated reasons for demanding demolition of the secretariat buildings in Hyderabad. It now cites lack of fire safety mechanisms instead of ‘vaastu’ as the reason for it.

Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had been facing a lot of heat for his stubborn decision to demolish the secretariat buildings as they were not vaastu compliant. Opposition parties had sharply criticised his stand and the Congress party had even petitioned the High Court against this measure.

With the High Court seeking an explanation for demanding the demolition, the government argued that none of the blocks in the secretariat were compliant with fire safety measures and hence would result in heavy loss of life, property and crucial files and documents in the eventuality of a fire breaking out.

To back its claim the government has even got the fire department to certify the lack of fire safety to certain buildings.

In the past KCR had openly deplored the prevalence of dangerous vaastu defects in several cabinet briefings
