TRS leader and former Tandur city unit president Ayub Khan, who set himself on fire in protest against the party leadership ignoring him, died at the Apollo Hospital, while under treatment on Friday.
On August 30, Ayub Khan immolated self protesting against not being given a nominated post in the TRS Government. He resorted to the extreme act during a TRS workers meeting at Vikarabad in the presence of Minister Mahender Reddy. Ayub Khan made stinging comments about old timers being ignored. He said he had pleaded his case with several leaders, including MP Kavitha, for a nominated post, but to no avail.
Soon after he finished his speech, he doused himself in kerosene and sent himself on fire. The shocked party workers put out the fire and shifted him to a hospital. He succumbed on Friday.
Minister Mahender Reddy rushed to the hospital and paid tributes to the departed leader. He assured to provide all assistance to the family members of Ayub Khan.
