TRS Candidate Wins Hyderabad Teachers MLC Elections

Katepalli Janardhan Reddy  - Sakshi Post

TRS candidate and sitting MLC Katepalli Janardhan Reddy was re-elected to the Telangana Legislative Council from the Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad Teachers Constituency. The counting of votes was completed late on Wednesday night. Reddy secured 9734 votes with the help of second preference votes at the end of the 11th round of counting.

The election, which was origially held on March 9, was later annulled as the photoes of two independent candidates were wrongly printed. The election was rescheduled for March 19. Interestingly, the vote percentage which was 88.67 in March 9, fell down to 82.49 on March 19.

Rivals gave tough competition to Katepalli by polling more votes than expected. While 9670 votes were needed for victory, he failed to poll the requisite number in the first round. So, the preferential votes had to be counted.

The TRS will hold a public meeting to celebrate the victory of Janardhan Reddy on Thursday.
