Trip to Pushkaram turns death trap for many

Hyderabad: As many as 16 people were killed in different accidents in two Telugu speaking states on Monday morning.

Among the dead, five are from Vishaka, three each from Nellore and Guntur while two persons from Medak. Many injured are undergoing treatment in hospitals. The death toll is likely to go up as many of the injured are critical.  

Ten people were killed and five sustained injuries when an RTC bus collided with an auto at Marikavalasa in Vishakapatnam.

Similarly in a road accident at Bogoru mandal in Nellore 3 people were killed and 20 were injured.

In yet another accident involving an auto accident in Chowdavaram Village, Guntur Mandal, 3 people were killed and eight injured. The accident took place when the auto driver tried to avoid a head-on collision with a truck, 

In a bike accident in Medak district, 2 youth were burnt alive on the spot. 

Road accidents were also reported in Kasimkota, Vishaka district, Nellore, Paadu mandal, Guntur district and Siddipet mandal. In most of the accidents where either going to Pushkaram or returning after taking the holy dip.
