Train movement disrupted after heavy rains
The movement of goods trains on the Kirandul-Kothavalasa line continues to remain disrupted due to breaches and falling of boulders on the track after heavy rains even as passenger services towards Vijaywada are being partially normalised, officials said.
Road and rail traffic towards Vijayawada has been restored as almost all express trains on the route connecting Chhattisgarh, which were cancelled on Sunday, are normalised.
However, the movement of goods trains continues to be disrupted though efforts are on on war footing to restore normalcy, Additional Divisional Railway Manager C Madhusudhana Rao said.
Nearly 40 mt of rail track and 7 mt-deep land underneath the track at Boddavara near Srungavarapukota on the KK line was damaged due to heavy downpour during the last few days.
It would take another 24 hours to restore the second line as big boulders had fallen on the track, he said.
KK line is important for transportation of iron ore from Kirundul in Chhattisgarh and nearby areas.
