Traffic comes to a halt on Tirumala ghat road
Call it the effect of cyclone Nilam or even strong gale-storm winds, scores of rocks on the Tirumala hills are falling on to the road. This has created a traffic jam on the ghat road. The road near the 16 milestone is filled with rocks, forcing the vehicles to be diverted. The traffic police has stopped the movement of heavy traffic vehicles for the time being to avoid further chaos.
Meanwhile, the hilltop temple of Lord Venkateshwara is slightly less crowded. The rush of people over the last few days after the Brahmotsavam at the temple had been high. Sources say, the free darshan at the temple takes three hours while special darshan takes only an hour.
