Geetha Govindam, A Copy Of My Film: Top Telugu Director
Hyderabad: Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna starrer, super hit film Geetha Govindam collected over Rs 100 crores at the Box Office. Directed by Parashuram, the film turned out to be a massive success, considering the small-scale budget it was made on. Also, Geetha Govindam received praise from several directors and actors from the Telugu film industry.
Senior Tollywood director K Raghavendra Rao also joined the list of directors who enjoyed watching Geetha Govindam. Speaking at a recent awards function, the director likened Geetha Govindam to his own directorial hit 'Pelli Sandadi,' which was a huge hit 20 years ago. I felt as if Director Parashuram copied certain sequences from Pelli Sandadi, Raghavendra Rao said jokingly.
"It is a great achievement for a film that came in as a small-scale film, to collect Rs 100 crore. The director should be appreciated for avoiding obscenity all through the movie," he added.
In 1996, Raghavendra Rao made Pelli Sandadi, a romantic entertainer that starred actors Srikanth, Ravali and Deepti Bhatnagar in the lead roles. Shot in the picturesque locations in Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, the film was a blockbuster hit back then.
