Tollywood Box Office Q1 Report: Telugu Movies in Profit Zone

A still from Tholi Prema - Sakshi Post

It’s only the beginning of March, but we have seen the release of many Tollywood films already. Only Power star Pawan Kalyan's Agnyaathavaasi and Balakrishna's Jai Simha were big ticket films. The rest were medium budget films which include—Naga Shourya's Chalo, Anushka's Bhaagamathie, Nani's Awe and Varun Tej's Tholi Prema. Interestingly, they turned out to be good and made profits at the overseas box office.

Here’s Tollywood Box Office Report For Q1 and a look at Telugu movies which entered Profit Zone

Chalo: Naga Shourya's Chalo did fantastic business. The film was a romantic action entertainer. Chalo gave path-breaking success to Naga Shourya. The movie was produced by the actor’s parents. And his mom even gifted him a Porsche car after the success of the film.

Bhagaamathie: Anushka's Bhaagamathie was a thriller and it was her first solo film after the Baahubali franchise. The film yielded good profits at the worldwide box office.

Awe: Nani is reaching a new milestone each passing week and his latest release Awe has kept the cash registers ringing at the box office. Awe also features Kajal, Nitya Menen and Regina in the lead roles. Nani didn't appear on the screen but he lent his voice to a fish. Awe was the last film released on the big screen. Since then there were no film releases following the Digital Services providers strike and ongoing exams. Awe has turned out to be the first blockbuster hit of 2018 in his career.

Tholi Prema: Based on collections and positive word of mouth for the film, Tholi Prema can be put under the hit movies list. Varun Tej, who was riding high on the success of Fidaa has become the most sought-after actor in Tollywood after Tholi Prema too which has elevated his superstardom status. With Fidaa, Varun Tej became a household name but Tholi Prema showed his versatility and Mega family stamina at the box office.

The above mentioned five films are First Top Telugu Movies in USA. It is worth mentioning here that only small films figure in the list while none of the big heroes have been able to achieve this feat due to routine commercial stories.
