AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa on Thursday removed Agriculture Minister 'Agri' S S Krishnamoorthy from a key party post, replacing him with a cabinet colleague.

Krishnamoorthy was being 'relieved' as the party's District Secretary of Tiruvannamalai (South), Jayalalalithaa said in a statement.

IT Minister and District Secretary of Tiruvannamalai (North), Mukkur N Subramanian, will handle the affairs of the southern unit till completion of organisational polls and till such time a replacement for Krishnamoorthy was named, she said. Krishnamoorthy was also removed as in-charge of organisational polls for Kanyakumari, with the party chief appointing Social Welfare Minister P Valarmathi in his place.
