Thousands of 'T' workers defy ban on Sadak Bandh

Several TRS and TJAC leaders were arrested on Thursday for defying police ban on ‘Sadak Bandh’, the road blockade of the Hyderabad-Bengaluru Highway.

The TJAC called for a bandh to block all the  national highways passing through Telangana districts to bring pressure on the Central government for the formation of a separate state. The police is out to foil their attempts.

TRS MLC Swamy Goud and Telangana Jagruthi president Kavitha joined the protest at Alampur on the  outskirts of  Hyderabad. Talking to media, she said Sadak Bandh was their way to achieve separate statehood for Telangana. This was their way of mounting pressure on the government.

Meanwhile, police arrested TRS floor leader Etela Rajender in Mahabubnagar district for participating in the road blockade.

He alleged that it was not right to arrest them when they were conducting the bandh peacefully. Kiran Kumar Reddy should bear the consequences, he added.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed in Alampur when pro-Telangana students pelted stones at the police van when they were shifting TJAC chairman Kodandaram and other leaders to the Alampur police station.

Police resorted to lathicharge and several TJAC leaders suffered minor injuries.
