This Minister Gifts Bats To Brides To Teach A Lesson To Husbands
Bhopal: Taking to a novel way of ending alcoholism, a Madhya Pradesh Minister has gifted bats to nearly 700 newly-wed couple.
Although this unusual scene might have put the grooms and their relatives in severe embarrassment during the wedding ceremony, it was quite common for the Minister who is on a mission to end alcoholism.
But the issue has become a hot topic in the entire state. 'Moogri' – what it is called in the local parlance, the bats are used to wash clothes. The Minister advised the brides to use Moogris on their husbands if they are addicted to alcohol.
Gopal Bhargava, who is the state Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, has presented these uncommon gifts to couples during a marriage ceremony held on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya on Saturday at Garhakota town in Sagar district.
The Minister of the BJP government, who has been conducting mass marriages for quite a sometime, asked the women to make understand their husbands the ill effects of consuming liquor and if their husbands don't listen, Moogri will do the talking.
