Hyderabad: The hollowness of the Hyderabad civic body's Global City claims stood thoroughly exposed when a road in Safilguda caved in for a second time on Thursday evening.

Two commuters were also injured after they had fallen into the sink hole. Ironically, the road caved in November last year due to heavy rains. It was later repaired. On Wednesday night, it caved in again and all it took for the sink hole to reappear was moderate to heavy rain.

Last year, the sink hole was caused due to the laying of 1600 inch diametre HDP pipelines at the T Junction near Safilguda bus stop.

Almost an year after the mishap, the civic officials did not wake up to the gravity of the issue. The contractors along with the private company, which had laid the pipeline, colluded and made a cover up with substandard work and laid the road. Subsequently, it resulted in forming a crater for the second time.

Meanwhile, due to incessant rains, the shoddy works in the underbridges in several areas were also exposed. At several places, four-wheelers got stuck and the people are expressing anger at the shoddy job.
