Tension in Mahbubnagar

Tension prevailed in Mahbubnagar town near Hyderabad on Saturday following an alleged desecration of an idol.

A protesting mob today pelted stones and police lobbed teargas shells and lathicharged to disperse it, said D Nagendra Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Mahbubnagar.

 However, no one was injured in the incident, he said. While the alleged desecration took place a few days ago, protests started yesterday. We have brought the situation under control, Kumar said. Prohibitory orders have been clamped in parts of the town.
