Tension grips Osmania University campus

Tension grips Osmania University campus - Sakshi Post

After nearly six months of peace, the atmosphere at the Osmania University is tense again! Students, volunteers and leaders of the Telangana students' committee are all set to begin their rally to attack the Assembly, where the monsoon session is in progress.

Anticipating this, the police, rapid action force and rescue team reached the campus to take charge of the situation. The gates at the campus have been locked to prevent students from stepping out. The police also has been repeatedly warning students against agitation.
Police had to use tear gas and fire rubber bullets to shoo away the agitating students who have gathered in large numbers inside the campus.
Even as police tried to bring the situation under control, students could be seen shouting slogans and throwing stones at the police personnel.
This is in response to the BJP call for celebrating September 17 as Telangana Liberation Day. Students of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) called for a bandh at OU, while other student organisations plan to protest by holding bike rallies.
On Sunday, Osmania University Telangana Students' Joint Action Committee (OU-TSJAC) staged a protest on campus.  The students took out a rally from Arts College to NCC gate, but were stopped by the police leading to a scuffle.
