Tension at Nagarjunasagar over water release to AP

The face-off between Telangana and AP irrigation officials over ustilising waters of the Nagarjunasagar Dam is continuing. 

Tension prevailed at the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam as the police of both the states were deployed in large number on both sides of the dam.

The AP Government directed the officials to release 6000 cusecs for Sagar Right Canal.
As the irrigation officials reached the dam gates following the direction of the AP Government to release the water, the Telangana police prevented them, resulting in a mild scuffle.
On Wednesday, Telangana government closed the gates of the Nagarjunasagar Dam’s Right Branch Canal accusing the AP government of over utilising waters by 44 TMC ft.
