Tension At Kanhaiya Kumar Public Meeting In Kurnool; Police Resort To Lathicharge
Pattikonda (Kurnool): Tension prevailed here on Friday when the police resorted to lathicharge against students who gathered at a public meeting addressed by student leader Kanhaiya Kumar.
Kanhaiya Kumar spoke during the meeting that was organised by left-wing students' unions — AISF (All India Student Federation) and AIYF (All India Youth Federation).
One of the students in the gathering started shouting slogans against Kanhaiya Kumar, who was a former president of JNU students union, and attempted to scuttle his speech. He was caught and thrashed by the AISF activists, while the policemen at the venue made a vain attempt to save him. Police resorted to lathicharge in order quell the ruckus by the unruly mob and disperse the trouble-makers.
Meanwhile, the victim who was thrashed by the AISF, is suspected to be a police constable in mufti.
