TSRTC Strike Day 44: Ashwathama Reddy On Indefinite Hunger Strike
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad police beefed up security at TSRTC convenor Ashwathama Reddy's house after they denied him permission to protest at Indira Park on Saturday, after which he staged an indefinite hunger strike at his residence in Urmilanagar of Meerpet. The hunger strike continued for the second day on Sunday. He further clarified that the strike will continue until the TRS government calls the RTC unions for talks.
Meanwhile, the police also tightened the security at RTC crossroads, Bus Bhavan, VST, Ramnagar crossroads, Vidyanagar. Barricades were set up in these areas and the vehicles are also being checked. Security was also imposed at Employees' union office and TJMU office as well.
Prohibitory orders have been issued and Section 144 (which disallows assembly of three or more persons in an area) has been imposed in all TSRTC depots across Hyderabad . Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that no permission was given for 'Bus Roko' and several leaders have been put under house arrest. JAC convenor Ashwathama Reddy, along with Raji Reddy have been put under house arrest in their residence. MRPS President Manda Krishna Madiga, POW leader Sandhya and others got into a tussle with the police for barring them from entering the house of Ashwathama Reddy near Meerpet.
The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees’ strike reached its 44th day on November 17th. RTC JAC unions have intensified their protest. Opposing the arrest of JAC leaders, several RTC workers arrived at their homes and started raising slogans against the Telangana government and the police. Meanwhile, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that no permission was given for 'Bus Roko' and several leaders have been taken into preventive custody.
