Woman Surgeon Beaten With Helmet After Patient Dies In Gandhi Hospital
Hyderabad: A woman surgeon was abused and thrashed by patient's relatives at state-run Gandhi Hospital here on Monday after the patient could not survive suffering major burn injuries.
Medical officer Dr G Vasanth Kumar said that the 22-year-old surgeon was thrashed by a helmet while she was on duty.
On the incident, Kumar said that the patient was brought to the hospital with 85 per cent of burnt injuries on his body. He was provided with immediate treatment. However, he was in a critical state when he was brought to the hospital and could not be stabilised.
The patient passed away at 3.45 pm, the officer said.
However, alleging medical negligence, the patient's relatives started abusing and thrashing the woman surgeon on duty with a helmet as she tried to escape, Kumar added.
A case has been registered with Chilkalguda police against the patient's kin.
