National Green Tribunal Inquiry On Telangana Sand Excavation

National Green Tribunal (NGT) which has already issued notices to Telangana Government over illegal sand mining in the state, has investigated about Telangana’s unregulated sand mining case on Wednesday.
As part of the investigation, the Central and State Pollution Control Board examined the reports. The NGT has questioned the Telangana government on how they extracted over four crore cubic meters of sand without taking any environmental permissions.
Responding to this, the Telangana government counter replied that they have taken sand as part of the projects. NGT further questions Telangana government on how they extracted sand from projects like Annaram Barrage and Medigadda Barrage which have been completed.
NGT has not been satisfied with the replies of the Telangana government sand mining in the state fires on government and says that it is the responsibility of the state government to protect natural resources. A further investigation on the case has been postponed to 26th of this month.
