Man Slits Wife’s Throat With Blade, Attempts Suicide
Dharmapuri: A person allegedly slit the throat of his wife with a blade and attempted suicide in Gangapur of Buggaram Mandal of Jagtial district on Friday. According to police, Rajitha (alias Jakkula Lavanya), second daughter of Pramila and Rajayya of Gangapur was married to Jakkula Tirupati of Ramakrishnapur, 9 years ago. They have two children, named Akshit (6) and Ritvika (3).
A few months after their marriage, he started doubting his wife’s character and there were conflicts between them frequently. Later, local panchayat leaders intervened and counselled both of them in the presence of their family members.
The couple went to Gangapur with their children to celebrate the Raksha Bandhan festival. On Friday morning Tirupati asked his wife to go to his hometown but she declined saying that she would come later. After that, he left the place and returned after travelling some distance and slit the his wife’s throat with a blade. After noticing local residents approaching him, he attempted suicide. The local residents immediately shifted them to a hospital in Jagtial. Later, Tirupati was shifted to Karimnagar due to a severe loss of blood. The local SI Chiranjeevi filed a case based on a complaint lodged by Lavanya’s parents and started probing the incident.
