Khairatabad Ganesh Dwadashaditya For Ganesh Chaturthi 2019 Unveiled

Hyderabad: Khairatabad Ganesh is one of the popular idols to be installed during the festival of Vinayaka Chathurthi, which falls on September 2 and months go into preparation for sculpting the giant Ganapathi idol. Now, in a first, the Khairatabad Ganesh idol will stand 61 feet tall, with 12 heads of Ganesha. In 2018, the idol was 57 feet high and the highest was 60 feet, four years ago.

This year, the Ganesh Utsav Committee is planning to install the idol with the model, named ‘Dwadashaditya’. While the making of the Ganesh idol starts three months before the festival every year, this time it has begun four months in advance.

Due to the design, the height and width of the idol have increased. The design includes 24 hands and 12 heads of Ganesha and six snakes over it.

Around 150 artists are working on sculpting the idol and intend to finish at least a week before the festival. Including the arrangements, the estimated cost of the idol is around Rs 70 lakh to 80 lakh this year.

The Ganesh Utsav Committee plans to conduct a lot of special pujas this year for better rains.
