Employee Of Shanker Mutt Arrested In Gold Theft Case
Hyderabad: In the Shanker Mutt gold theft case, the police arrested a property offender on Sunday. The accused, an employee of Shanker Mutt was arrested and Rs 7.5 lakh worth stolen property was recovered from them.
The Nallakunta police arrested R Naga Sairam (34), an office assistant of Sringeri Shanker Mutt for stealing One-tola gold coins from the temple office.
Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar explained that the temple management accepted gold offerings from devotees to decorate the statue of deity Sharadamba with Gold Saree and the donations were placed inside a wooden almirah in the temple manager's room.
Rallabandi Naga Sriram, who hails from Madhira in Khammam worked in the manager's office. He stole the keys of the almirah and had been gradually stealing the gold coins for the last few months,
The Mutt authorities approached the Nallakunta police on May 16 after an internal inquiry failed to yield results.Based on the complaint filed by the manager, the police recovered the 25 golden coins worth Rs 7.5 lakh from his possession.
