Banjara Hills Inox Slapped With Penalty Of Rs 5,000 For Selling Overpriced Water Bottles

Hyderabad: National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) on Thursday directed multiplex INOX in Banjara Hills to sell water bottles at the maximum retail price (MRP).

The order comes after a case was registered by Forum Against Corruption (FAC) against GVK One Mall in 2017 for collecting money for water bottles exceeding the MRP.

INOX was directed to pay Rs 5,000 to the aggrieved customer who was charged Rs 50 for a water bottle when we went to watch a movie at the multiplex in 2017.

Vijay Gopal, the complainant filed the case saying he was not allowed to carry the water bottle that he got from home and was instead asked to purchase the bottle from the multiplex for which the charged him Rs 50.

It is known that various malls across the city continue to sell food items at inflated rates.
