BJP Bandh: Protests Held Across Telangana Over Inter Results
Hyderabad: Protesting the alleged irregularities published in the Intermediate examination results, BJP has kick-started its day-long bandh in Telangana on Thursday. The party leaders held agitations at Mahabubnagar, Karimnagar, Nagarkurnool and other places in the state.
The protesters raised slogans against the state government in Hyderabad as they prevented the buses belonging to Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) to move from the depot following which the police officials took them into custody.
Appealing to the general public to lend their support to the state-wide bandh as a stand for the aggrieved Intermediate students, the BJP leaders also intend to put pressure on the state government to take action in the matter. The party leaders have demanded the termination of Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy, suspension of Board of Intermediate Education secretary apart from compensation to the families of 23 students who allegedly committed suicide, since the declaration of results on April 18.
In the wake of the call for the bandh, the police officials have taken several BJP leaders into preventive custody. On the other hand, the Telangana BJP president K Laxman entered the fourth day on Thursday.
